How to Maintain Your Liposuction Results Long Term

Liposuction can be an amazing way to slim down areas with hard-to-lose fat like your thighs, upper arms, and abdominal section. But after your liposuction is over, it doesn’t mean your body will stay that way forever. So, if you’ve recently had liposuction or are considering doing so, here are some tips to maintaining those results and enjoying your rockin’ body.

Diet

It can be tempting to go crazy with your diet once your body is looking slimmer and trimmer but we encourage you to resist that impulse. Of course a little here and there is okay, but for the majority, you should be trying to eat healthily. Eating healthy means incorporating more fruits and vegetables in your diet as well as for opting for whole grains and natural sugars instead of processed foods and simple carbohydrates. It may take a while to get used to eating this way, but your waistline (and overall health!) will thank you.

Exercise

Just like with your diet, your body relies on exercise to stay healthy and working properly. Now isn’t the time to slouch on your exercise routine. As soon as you’ve been given the okay from your doctor, you should get back to working out regularly. Exercise is not only great for maintaining your liposuction results, but it’s important for your overall health as well. If you weren’t in the best shape before, it can be hard to get into the routine of exercising regularly. You can start out slow to build the habit. Try to work out for just 10-15 minutes at first. Then you can slowly work that up to a half-hour, or even longer if you want! You don’t have to be perfect with your exercising but a little bit is better than none.

No matter what area you had liposuction on, we recommend trying to incorporate strength training into your workouts. Strength training is an excellent way to tone up those areas and give you more definition.
