Spring Clean Your Skincare Routine
Spring is finally coming and that means changing up your skincare routine. This may not be something you think about doing, but it can dramatically improve your skin to cater to its needs that change depending on the season. Here are some quick tips to keeping your skin looking beautiful all season long.
Clean Out Your Bathroom Cabinet
It’s important to remember to throw out old products that have expired or ones that maybe don’t work as well as you had hoped. A good rule of thumb with skincare products is to use your senses. Does it smell a little off? Does it look like it’s separating and there’s oil on top? Those are both good signs that the product is probably past its prime. With makeup, you can also use those methods but pay attention to how it performs and if the color is off as well. This is also a great time to wear lighter-formula foundations and start thinking about playing with different color palettes for the new season.
Switch Out Your Body Cream
A heavy body cream may be great for the dry, winter months, but you probably don’t need to moisturize your body with it all year long. Spring is a great time to lighten up on heavy body creams and moisturizers. Look for a nourishing formula with a lighter consistency, and make sure it has SPF. If you aren’t always wearing SPF, now is an excellent time to start heading into the warmer months.
Exfoliate
You may think that exfoliation is better for the winter months with all of your dry, flaky skin but it’s actually important all year long. Instead of using harsh scrubs try an exfoliating cleanser with glycolic acid in it. This chemical exfoliant is better for skin in the long run by helping avoid micro-tears that can occur from physical exfoliants like sugar or salt.
We hope these simple tips help your skin get springtime ready. If you still feel like you could use a boost or have specific skincare goals in mind, schedule an appointment with us today. We’d love to discuss your options.
